Job Full Description
If you are looking for a position where you can make a difference, then we may have the job for you. We are looking for a caring person to fill the role of Child and Family Advocate. In this position you will be responsible for providing direct and compassionate advocacy and support to children and their families who may have suffered abuse (sexual, physical, neglect, drug endangerment or witness to domestic violence). This position has the special role of helping families navigate multiple systems, when involved in child abuse investigations. Teamwork is essential, as you work together to coordinate direct services for our clients.
Full time, Temporary (possible long term $23-$25/HR DOE
Other responsibilities include:
- Answering urgent calls and providing effective intervention or referral.
- Advocate for clients with other agencies and community partners to coordinate services.
- Providing direct support with families throughout the investigative process.
- Maintaining records and keeping resources up to date.
To qualify for this position, a QMHA Certification and Associate Degree in a human service-related field is required. You should also have a foundational understanding of child development and developmental trauma.
Other requirements:
- Strong understanding of Child Welfare and the Foster Care system.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with other employees, program staff, persons receiving services, and outside organizations.
- Must be able to collaborate well with others and promote teamwork.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Willingness to engage in CAC provided training and resources regarding the effects of vicarious trauma and resiliency.
- Extensive knowledge of current community resources available to victims of sexual/physical abuse or neglect, and family violence
- Must pass a criminal background check.
