Full time, Store Manager

$28-$31/HR

Tuesday - Saturday

10am-6pm

 

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day store operations
  • Marketing
  • Sale of quality donated materials
  • Able to achieve sales targets
  • Planning and execution of an effective and efficient donation sales process
  • Oversight of HR duties
  • Hiring, training, and supervision of 5-10 staff and volunteers
  • Implentation of strategies to achieve the goals and objectives identified in the organization’s new business plan
  • Must represent the organization favorably within the community, developing and maintaining good relationships with customers, donors, volunteers, and partners.

Administration:

  • Oversee all aspects of the retail environment to ensure consistent, smooth and efficient operations
  • Oversee effective merchandising of the showroom floor, maximizing available display space and using inventory controls and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise
  • Implement, track, and report on organization’s business plan- which sets goals for donations, and donor relations.
  • Implement stores safety and operations manuals as well as employee manuals to ensure all policies are followed as outlined
  • Ensure store adheres to government regulations and policies of organization
  • Responsible for opening and closing the store
  • Ensure organization is informed of progress and challenges
  • Participate in and lead long-range planning and visioning
  • Manage the store by directing, training, supervising, and recognizing staff and volunteers in the performance of assigned duties
  • Ensure the store is staffed properly at all times- hire, train and retain high quality staff, establish annual performance goal for each, monitor performance results throughout the year, conduct performance reviews at least annually, and report results
  • Motivate team of staff and volunteers to meet store while providing a fun and dynamic workplace
  • Promote a store culture that emphasizes safety, customer service and a “can-do” attitude
  • Train new volunteers and staff to deliver high quality, consistent customer service experiences in the store
  • Ensure all issues are professionally resolved and reported in a timely manner
  • Provide training resources to shift managers so they can direct store operations in the absence of the manager
  • Develop staff to allow them to cover your key duties
  • Ensure that bi-weekly schedules are posted in a timely manner
  • Maintain job descriptions for all employees/volunteers
  • Ensure that communication of relevant issues flows properly to and among appropriate groups in the organization
  • Maintain vacation, sick leave and other records

Volunteers:

  • Responsible for recruitment, training, supervision and honoring volunteers.
  • Develop long-range planning for volunteer needs. Work in partnership with organizations that provide and coordinate volunteers to recruit, train and engage volunteers in a meaningful way.
  • Provide direction and supervision for store volunteers (i.e., operations, deconstruction, office/clerical staff, donation pick-up drivers, sales associates) including community work crews and community service organization volunteers.
  • Become familiar with volunteer scheduling programs

Financial:

  • Oversee the maintenance and development of sound financial practices.
  • In coordination with the Executive Director and ReStore Committee, prepare a draft

                annual budget and recommend any new capital expenditure.

  • Ensure the ReStore operates within budget guidelines and maintains accurate

               financial projections.

  • Ensure adequate funds are available to permit the ReStore to carry out its mission.
  • Oversee and enforce pricing policies and processes for store merchandise. Review  

               and adjust pricing as necessary. Ensure all slow-moving merchandise is marked          

               down per policy.

  • Track sales data to determine categories with high to low volume and adjust

               procurement and sales strategies to meet customer demand.

  • Use analytical tools available in the point-of-sale system (i.e., Thrift Cart), to help

               manage store budgets and support budget and operational decisions with  

               documented financial analysis such as: profit margins; sales per square foot; last      

               year to current year sales comparisons; cost per donation pickup; ROI of marketing  

               expenses to sales; expenses as a percentage of sales; break-even analysis and

               inventory management.

  • Provide reports on store performance or strategic projections such as: inventory turnover; discounts; returns; earnings per store per open hour; net cash to organization forecasting
  • Responsible for assuring the cash register is reconciled daily.
  • Approve and ensure accurate coding and submit payable invoices on a timely basis to the store’s Administrative Assistant.
  • Create or oversee the preparation of a written monthly report on sales activities,

       expenses, volunteer hours and outreach efforts to provide a snapshot of the current  

       state of the store.

  • Work day-to-day and monthly (informed by report analysis), to control expenses. In coordination with the Executive Director, identify and initiate opportunities to reduce expenses and create operational efficiencies.
