Customer Service Specialist
Location: Salem, OR
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (may require occasional evenings or weekends)
Pay: $20.00–$24.00/hr
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Customer Service Specialist to support a busy healthcare organization in Salem. This role focuses on delivering high-quality service to members by assisting with coverage, claims, and benefit-related questions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a high volume of inbound calls with professionalism and efficiency
- Assist members and providers with questions related to coverage, claims, and benefits
- Clearly explain policy provisions and healthcare benefits
- Research and resolve customer concerns in a timely manner
- Document all interactions accurately and consistently
- Serve as a liaison and problem solver for customer issues
- Educate members on available services and how to maximize their benefits
- Maintain knowledge of Medicare Advantage plans and healthcare services
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
- Meet performance and attendance expectations
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in medical insurance, healthcare, or call center environment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism
- Solid data entry and computer skills in a Windows-based environment
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance, or billing practices
- Typing speed of 30 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
