Beam Line Operator 1
Location: Brooks, OR
PAY: $20.00 – $26.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule:
- Standard shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Overtime (if needed): 5:00 AM – 2:30 PM or 3:30 PM
Position Summary:
We are currently hiring a Beam Line Operator 1 for a fast-paced metal fabrication environment. This role is responsible for operating beam line equipment to drill and process steel components while meeting production and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience in metal fabrication, blueprint reading, and precision measuring tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate beam line machinery to drill and process steel parts to specification
- Read and interpret blueprints, job packets, and work orders
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy in dimensions, quantity, and specifications
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
- Set up, run, and monitor machine operations to maintain production goals
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials safely
- Assist with fabrication tasks including cutting, drilling, and punching steel
- Label and organize jobs with correct customer and order information
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Identify and report material defects, equipment issues, or quality concerns
- Perform basic machine maintenance including lubrication, bit changes, and troubleshooting
- Enter commands, load programs, and assist with machine operation as needed
- Support inventory checks and material handling tasks
- Work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 1+ year of experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and work instructions
- Basic math skills including fractions and decimals
- Experience with power tools and metal fabrication equipment preferred
- Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- Ability to work full-time with overtime and varied shifts as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Standing and walking for up to 10 hours per shift
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling
- Exposure to noise, moving equipment, dust, and fumes
