Sanitation Worker – Food Manufacturing
Express Employment Professionals is hiring reliable and hardworking Sanitation Workers for a food manufacturing and food production facility. Sanitation Workers are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing food processing equipment, production areas, machinery, floors, and workspaces while following strict food safety and workplace safety procedures.
Pay Rate
- 1st Shift: $15.00/hour
- 2nd Shift: $16.50/hour
- 3rd Shift: $18.50/hour
Sanitation Worker Job Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize food processing equipment, production machinery, floors, and manufacturing areas.
- Perform industrial cleaning and sanitation tasks during scheduled production downtime.
- Use cleaning chemicals, hoses, pressure washing equipment, and sanitation tools safely and correctly.
- Follow established food safety, sanitation, quality control, and workplace safety procedures.
- Lift, carry, and move hoses, equipment, and chemical containers weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Work safely around large food processing and manufacturing machinery.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, face shields, aprons, boots, and other protective gear.
- Maintain clean and sanitary production areas according to company standards and applicable FDA and food safety requirements.
- Follow chemical handling and sanitation procedures to prevent contamination.
- Work efficiently as part of a sanitation team to complete cleaning assignments on schedule.
- Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or sanitation problems to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Sanitation Worker Work Environment
This position involves physically demanding food manufacturing sanitation work and may include:
- Wet and humid working conditions.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
- Working around food production equipment and large machinery.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and lifting.
- Handling cleaning chemicals while wearing required PPE.
- Working during production shutdowns and scheduled sanitation periods.
- Potential overtime, weekend, evening, and overnight work based on production needs.
Sanitation Worker Qualifications
- Previous sanitation, janitorial, industrial cleaning, food production, food processing, warehouse, or manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for an entire shift.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Comfortable working in wet, humid, hot, and cold environments.
- Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and wearing required protective equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and following company procedures.
