Outside Forklift Operator – Job Description

Overview
This role is responsible for safely operating a forklift to move, load, and unload raw and finished pipe materials in an outdoor yard environment. The position supports material handling needs across the yard and warehouse, ensuring efficient workflow, accurate order preparation, and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Load, unload, ship, and receive raw and finished pipe materials.
• Transport materials throughout the outdoor yard and facility.
• Optimize and secure loads for safe and efficient movement. 
• Pick, bundle, and prepare orders for shipment. 
• Maintain proper labeling, organization, and storage of materials. 
• Follow all safety management standards and procedures.
• Adhere to production and scheduling requirements. 
• Perform daily equipment checks and report maintenance needs. (Supported by industry-standard forklift descriptions) 

Required Skills & Abilities

• Proven ability to operate and maintain forklift equipment effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for receiving and following directions. 
• Ability to accurately read prints, measuring devices, and material dimensions. 
• Solid basic math skills. 
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. 
• Maintain cooperative working relationships and keep routine records. 

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent. 
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar forklift or outdoor material-handling role preferred.
