Job Title: Safety Manager – U.S. Operations
Location: St. Stephen, SC
Compensation: $120,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Travel: Up to 25% (domestic only)
Schedule: Full-time, day shift
Job Summary
The Safety Manager – U.S. Operations is responsible for leading and managing the safety culture and compliance across all U.S.-based manufacturing facilities. This role ensures organizational compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations, while also driving initiatives that reduce risk, prevent workplace incidents, and promote employee well-being.
This leader will serve as a key partner to local safety coordinators, plant management, and corporate leadership—championing continuous improvement and best-in-class safety practices across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership & Culture
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the safety culture throughout U.S. operations.
- Lead the implementation and enforcement of Safety Absolutes and safe behaviors at all U.S. sites.
- Drive continuous improvement in workplace safety through structured programs and employee engagement.
- Act as a subject matter expert and internal advisor on safety issues, compliance, and risk management.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all facilities comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations, with a focus on OSHA standards.
- Monitor evolving safety requirements and industry best practices; ensure company policies are aligned.
- Support and guide local safety coordinators and plant managers on site-specific compliance needs.
Risk Management & Incident Prevention
- Lead risk assessments for equipment and processes, ensuring hazards are identified and mitigated.
- Oversee Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention processes, track exposures, and ensure corrective actions.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits to evaluate site compliance with safety expectations.
Training & Communication
- Develop and deploy safety training programs focused on safe employee behavior and risk awareness.
- Maintain safety documentation, metrics, and data reporting; analyze trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure annual safety assessments are conducted and follow up on any action plans or recommendations.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead and track safety-related Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts across U.S. facilities.
- Align site-level actions with national safety goals and metrics (e.g., A3s, quarterly safety reports).
- Facilitate the sharing of best practices between plants and lead CI initiatives to improve safety performance.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven success in managing safety programs and influencing change across multiple locations.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance strategies.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Experience with safety-related continuous improvement projects.
Preferred:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification.
- Experience in multi-site safety management.
- Knowledge of safety data systems and incident tracking tools.
