Job Full Description

SUMMARY: Compounds, mixes and blends chemical batches by performing the following duties:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Weighs quantities of materials for use in the manufacturing processes.

 

Places loose or packaged material on scales and adds or removes portions of material to obtain specified weight.

 

Reads work order or formula to determine types and quantities of materials to weigh and procedure to be followed for manufacturing process.

 

Records weight of materials used for production records and maintains perpetual inventory of materials used and on hand by recording and marking drums.

 

Dumps materials in prescribed sequence into vat, hopper or mixing pot.

Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine. Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.

 

Transfers weighed materials to production or storage areas.

Records information such as weight, type of product, date and batch number of products produced.

 

Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of manufacturing process.

 

Attaches ground cable to truck to prevent sparks due to static electricity when flammable or volatile material is to be loaded or unloaded

 

Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties.

 

Performs weekly checks on Torit Baghouse dust collection system and records results. Performs testing of Torit Baghouse dust collection systems prior to any use and records results in log.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess valid driver’s license.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to operate forklift, hand trucks and pallet lifters.
