Accountant / Senior Accountant
Downtown Charleston, SC (On-site)
A privately owned, diversified holding company in Downtown Charleston is seeking an experienced Accountant / Senior Accountant to join its team. This role supports multiple operating entities primarily focused on consumer finance and real estate.
Position Overview
This position handles a high volume of general ledger reconciliations and journal entries and supports month-end close activities. The ideal candidate has strong GAAP knowledge, solid Excel skills, and experience working in a fast-paced accounting
environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries; analyze and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
- Perform bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with pre-close and month-end close processes
- Compile financial data and prepare routine accounting reports
- Support accounting leadership with reporting and analysis
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and double-entry accounting
- Intermediate Excel skills required (pivot tables; macros a plus)
- Experience with Sage 100 or Yardi is a plus
- Loan accounting or real estate experience helpful, but not required
Pay & Schedule
- Hourly position with total compensation typically $70,000–$75,000, based on a 45-hour work week
- Paid daily overtime (1 hour per day)—lunch is worked and compensated
- Strong candidates near $80,000 total compensation may still be considered
- Flexible schedule available
