Job Full Description

The Production Operator will operate machinery and equipment to cut, form, and assemble metal components for construction. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to producing high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Machinery: Safely operate metal cutting and forming equipment, such as shears, press brakes, roll formers, and CNC machines, to produce roofing components according to specifications.

  • Material Handling: Load and unload raw metal materials (e.g., steel, aluminum) onto machines, ensuring proper alignment and setup.

  • Quality Control: Inspect finished components for accuracy, ensuring they meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards; report any defects or deviations.

  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Production Support: Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules, adjust workflows as needed, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Documentation: Record production data, such as quantities produced and material usage, accurately in logs or digital systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred but not necessary; familiarity with metal cutting, forming, or roofing component production is a plus.

  • Skills:

    • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort operating industrial machinery.

    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

    • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

     

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

    • Comfort working in a factory environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in manufacturing or metalwork is a plus.

  • Other: Willingness to work overtime or rotating shifts as needed.
