Position Overview - ONE YEAR Experience REQUIRED
We are seeking a dependable and patient-focused Optometry Technician to join a professional eye care team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide excellent patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for comprehensive eye examinations.
- Obtain and document patient medical and ocular histories.
- Perform preliminary vision testing, including visual acuity and color vision.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as tonometry, visual fields, lensometry, and other testing as needed.
- Assist the optometrist during examinations and procedures.
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
- Enter accurate patient information into electronic medical records.
- Educate patients on procedures, contact lens care, and follow-up instructions.
- Maintain clean, organized examination rooms and equipment.
- Provide professional and compassionate customer service.
- Assist with patient flow and other clinical duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous optometry, ophthalmology, optical, or healthcare experience preferred.
- Strong computer and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional appearance and dependable attendance.
- Optometric/Ophthalmic Technician certification is a plus but not required unless specified by the employer.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is professional, reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with patients. Experience with ophthalmic equipment, EMR systems, or clinical testing is highly preferred.
