Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) with deep expertise in food and beverage packaging to lead our CPG initiatives across innovation, sustainability, branding, and supply chain optimization. This role will play a critical part in enhancing our packaging strategies to align with evolving consumer preferences, regulatory standards, and market trends while driving growth and operational efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Packaging Strategy & Innovation:

Lead the development and execution of forward-thinking packaging strategies for food and beverage products that optimize consumer appeal, cost efficiency, and sustainability.

 

Cross-Functional Leadership:

Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations to bring new packaging concepts to market, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and regulatory requirements.

 

Market & Consumer Insights:

Analyze trends, consumer behavior, and competitive activity to identify opportunities for packaging differentiation and innovation.

 

Vendor & Material Management:

Build and maintain strong partnerships with packaging suppliers and manufacturers. Evaluate new materials, technologies, and sustainable packaging solutions.

 

Compliance & Sustainability:

Ensure packaging meets food safety standards, industry regulations, and company sustainability goals, including recyclability, carbon footprint reduction, and circular design principles.

 

Project & Budget Oversight:

Manage packaging development budgets and timelines, ensuring efficient execution and ROI on packaging initiatives.

 

Leadership & Team Development:

Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of packaging and product development professionals.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Food Science, Engineering, Marketing, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

 

10+ years of progressive experience in CPG with a focus on food and beverage packaging.

 

Proven track record of launching successful packaging innovations in the food and beverage space.

 

Deep understanding of food safety regulations, packaging materials (plastic, glass, aluminum, flexible, compostable, etc.), and sustainability trends.

 

Strong leadership and project management skills with a collaborative, cross-functional approach.

 

Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.

 

Preferred Experience:

Experience working with major retail and foodservice channels.

 

Knowledge of international packaging regulations and global supply chain dynamics.

 

Experience implementing digital packaging technologies (e.g., QR codes, smart labels).
