Job Title: QDRO Specialist / Legal Assistant

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented QDRO Specialist with legal experience to join our QDRO Department. This role involves working directly with clients, attorneys, and retirement plan administrators to draft and process Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) and related documents. The ideal candidate will have a background in family law or legal document preparation, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases with accuracy and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and process Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) and related legal documents.

  • Communicate with clients, attorneys, and plan administrators regarding QDRO requirements and procedures.

  • Collect, organize, and maintain client and case documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and plan-specific rules.

  • Track case progress and maintain accurate case management records.

  • Review and interpret court orders, separation agreements, and pension plan documents.

  • Assist with filing and finalizing court-approved orders as needed.

  • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys or senior QDRO specialists.


Qualifications:

  • Required: 2+ years of legal or paralegal experience (family law, retirement benefits, or document preparation preferred).

  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and document formatting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management or document automation systems.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all communications.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically with QDRO preparation or processing.

  • Knowledge of ERISA, retirement plan structures, and division of benefits in divorce.

  • Paralegal certificate or degree in Legal Studies.
