Job Title: Cook
Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. This position plays an important role in ensuring residents receive quality meals that meet dietary guidelines and promote overall well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary requirements.

Ensure food is prepared, stored, and served in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, work areas, and food storage areas.

Monitor food inventory and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.

Properly store and label food items to maintain freshness and prevent waste.

Assist with meal planning and portion control.

Follow all food safety procedures and guidelines.

Work cooperatively with staff and residents to provide excellent meal service.

Maintain accurate records as required.
Qualifications:

Previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen, cafeteria, shelter, nursing home, or similar environment preferred.

Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safety practices.

Ability to prepare meals for large groups.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.

Food Handler Certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
Work Environment:
This position works in a kitchen setting and may require standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to hot surfaces and kitchen equipment.
Schedule:
Schedules may vary and may include weekends and holidays as needed.
