Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Kiln Car repair tech for a brick manufacturing plant in Denton, TX. The Kiln Car Repair Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair and rebuilding of kiln cars used in the firing process of the manufacturing plant. This role ensures that kiln cars are structurally sound, operate safely and reliably, and that downtime of kiln operations is minimized. The technician will conduct mechanical, refractory, structural, and wheel/axle repairs, collaborate with maintenance and production teams, and help maintain quality and efficiency of the kiln system.

Pay: $20/hr + occasional overtime
Schedule: M-F 5a-finish
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain operation, condition, and quality of plant kiln cars in a safe and efficient manner
- Inspect, grease, and maintain kiln car wheels
- Inspect and replace heat seals on kiln cars
- Inspect and replace damaged refractory block on kiln cars
- Maintain condition and levelness of refractory blocks and car decks
- Tear down and rebuild subpar kiln cars
- Perform minor maintenance to kiln cars and kiln car equipment
- Perform housekeeping duties of assigned work area and within assigned department
Qualifications & Skills:
- Prior experience in heavy equipment repair, structural repair, refractory work, kiln car maintenance or similar industrial environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude: ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, alignment tools, and perform structural/mechanical repairs.
- Experience or knowledge of refractory materials, high-temperature service components, and industrial vehicle/tracks (kiln car systems).
- Ability to read technical drawings, repair schematics, maintenance manuals, inspect large structures for damage/wear.
- Basic computer skills for logging repairs, reporting, inventory management.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to troubleshoot mechanical/structural issues, work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent safety mindset: comfortable working in hot, noisy, dusty manufacturing environments, possibly elevated platforms, near moving equipment and kilns.
- Physical requirements: ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs+ or more depending on parts), bend/stoop/crouch/climb ladders or stairs, perform welding/grinding tasks, work in high-temperature zones.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends or varied shift schedules as production/repair demands dictate.
