Job Full Description

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Machine Setter Operator for a brick manufacturing plant in Denton, TX. The Setter Operator is responsible for the accurate setup, adjustment, and operation of production equipment in the manufacturing process. This role ensures the machinery is configured correctly, operates reliably, and produces quality product. The Setter Operator works closely with production and maintenance teams to maintain uptime, meet production goals, and uphold safety and quality standards.

 

Pay: $18/19/hr + occasional overtime

Schedule: M-F 5a-finish (8-10 hour shifts)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up production equipment/machines according to job orders, work instructions, tooling specifications and process sheets.
  • Load materials/stock into machines or fixtures; ensure proper fixturing, clamping and alignment.
  • Adjust machine settings, tooling, feeds, speeds, and other parameters to produce product according to specifications.
  • Perform first-off inspections and run trial production, verify parts meet quality criteria and make adjustments as needed.
  • Operate equipment during production: monitor process, detect and respond to deviations, stop equipment if necessary and escalate issues.
  • Change over machines between jobs: remove old tooling/fixtures, install new, perform required set-up and verification.
  • Inspect parts during and after production for quality: use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and verify compliance with print/specifications.
  • Record production data: job counts, scrap/defects, downtime, tool usage.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, cleaning and housekeeping around equipment to ensure machine readiness and safe operation.
  • Work with maintenance team when machine malfunctions or requires repair; report issues promptly.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Front Loader Experience is a PLUS.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in machine setup or operation.
  • Mechanical aptitude: able to understand and work with tooling, fixtures, machine components, clamping and fixturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret job orders, setup sheets, blueprints or drawings and tooling instructions.
  • Skilled in using measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and performing basic dimensional checks.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills: able to identify when something is “off” in set-up or process and make or recommend corrections.
  • Able to work under production schedules and meet output/quality targets.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
  • Physical requirements: ability to stand for extended periods, bend/stoop, climb steps, lift 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, weekends as required by production demands.
  • Must not be afraid of heights and must be ok working in a harsh (hot, dusty and noisy) environment.
