Job Full Description

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Offbearer Operator for a brick manufacturing plant in Denton, TX. The Offbearer Operator plays a key role in the production process by handling, moving and staging materials, pre- and post-machine processing, and ensuring a smooth flow of product through the production line. This person works in tandem with machine operators and process teams, removing processed material from machines (or systems) and staging it for the next step, while also feeding raw or semi-finished material into the process as needed. The role places a strong emphasis on safety, productivity, and quality of materials.

 

Pay: $18/hr + Occasional Overtime

Schedule: M-F 5:30a-2p

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Remove finished or partially processed material from machines, conveyors or kiln cars and stage them properly for downstream operations or storage.
  • Load raw materials, semi-finished items or incoming product into machines, processes, or conveyors as required to maintain production flow.
  • Inspect materials being removed or staged for visible defects or non-conformities (e.g., damaged edges, cracks, incorrect size) and report or segregate accordingly.
  • Operate controls to start, stop or adjust machines or conveyor systems under guidance or per standard procedures (for material removal or feeding operations).
  • Maintain cleanliness, order and safety of the work area: clear scrap, remove waste or unusable material, keep walkways, staging areas and machines free of hazards.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols: wear required PPE, follow lock-out/tag-out or machine guarding rules when appropriate, work safely in high-noise, high-temperature or industrial environments.
  • Communicate with machine operators, maintenance, and production leads about material flow issues, machine jams, quality issues or staging delays.
  • May assist machine operators or other staff with loading/unloading of kiln cars, setting up staging of bricks, stacking or bundling items for shipping or further processing (depending on plant flow).

Qualifications & Skills

  • Physical ability to perform manual work: lift and move heavy materials (50 lbs, stand for extended periods, bend/stoop, climb stairs/ramps, work in a noisy/hot industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Basic ability to learn machine/conveyor controls, follow standard operating procedures and material handling protocols.
  • Attention to detail: able to spot obvious product damage, mis-loaded material, incorrect stacking or staging.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, with the ability to keep up with production pace and respond to changes or urgencies in material flow.
  • Basic reading/writing skills sufficient to log items removed/loaded, understand instructions and shift reports.
  • Safety mindset: able to follow PPE requirements, safe lifting/trucking procedures, and be aware of surrounding operations (hot kilns, moving equipment, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work shift schedules, back shifts, weekend or overtime as needed in a production facility.
