Braider Operator - $15.50/HOUR

A company in Santa Teresa, NM needs a Braider Operator. A Wire Braider Operator sets up, operates, and maintains braiding machines to interlace strands of wire or cable, producing high-quality braided products like ropes and cablesKey duties include monitoring production, adjusting machine settings, performing minor maintenance and inspections, identifying and fixing issues like broken strands, and documenting production data. The role requires a strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, ability to follow instructions, and physical stamina to stand and lift for extended periods.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Setup and Operation:
    Set up and operate various braiding machines, loading material bobbins and core wires, and threading strands through the braiding head. 
     
  • Production Monitoring:
    Observe machine operation to ensure smooth production, detect issues such as broken wires or empty bobbins, and make adjustments as needed. 
     
  • Maintenance:
    Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs to ensure optimal machine performance. 
     
  • Quality Control:
    Inspect finished products to confirm they meet quality standards and customer specifications. 
     
  • Troubleshooting:
    Identify and correct problems with the braiding machines and process to prevent disruptions and maintain efficiency. 
     
  • Material Handling:
    Replace empty bobbins with new ones and splice broken ends to keep the braiding process continuous. 
     
  • Record Keeping:
    Complete paperwork, enter production data into a computer system, and maintain accurate production and scrap reports. 
     
  • Safety and Housekeeping:
    Adhere to all safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. 
     
Skills and Qualifications
  • Mechanical Aptitude:
    A good understanding of how machines work and the ability to perform mechanical adjustments. 
     
  • Attention to Detail:
    A keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality output and accurate product specifications. 
     
  • Manual Dexterity:
    Strong fine motor skills and the ability to handle small parts and materials. 
     
  • Physical Stamina:
    Ability to stand for long periods and lift objects up to 50 pounds regularly. 
     
  • Problem-Solving:
    Capacity to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that arise during production. 
     
  • Technical Skills:
    Ability to read blueprints and technical instructions, as well as strong math and measuring skills. 
     
  • Communication:
    Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors. 
     
  • Education:
    A high school diploma or GED is typically required.
