Job Full Description
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform functional tests on new or rental equipment before delivery to customer.
- Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use for damage, hours used, tires, mileage, fuel levels, safety decals and safety compliance.
- Perform, in a safe manner, minor repairs of rental/sold equipment, including checking oil, grease, fluids and tagging of equipment for delivery status.
- Maintain paperwork documentation of service repair orders in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basis as well as documentation of labor.
- Perform major repairs with or without direct supervision of senior service technician.
- Ability to diagnose all equipment in rental/sold fleet without supervision; ability to read, follow, understand schematic diagrams across a variety of component systems and equipment.
- Communicate with lead technician, counter person and/or service manager for equipment maintenance requirements and repair parts.
- Prepare new equipment for rent or sale.
- Recognize and communicate the need for shop tools.
- Identify and communicate the need of parts for inventory.
- Perform diagnostic procedures across a variety of component systems and equipment.
- Ability to diagnose all equipment in rental fleet without supervision; ability to read, follow, understand, communicate electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- When necessary and without supervision, accurately request needed parts using reference material as required.
- Assistance in training junior technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs.
- Follow standard operating procedures.
- Clean and organize tools used for repair and related equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhere to all safety procedures.
- Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
- Assist in other areas when needed or as directed by the Rental Fleet Manager.
- Travel to customer job sites as needed to repair equipment.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- A strong team effort with the commitment to superior quality is a necessity.
- Managing processes; organization; analyzing information; professionalism; problem solving.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
- Functional knowledge of calipers, dial calipers, micrometers, tape measures, torque wrenches and common hand tooling.
- Previous knowledge of welding processes and equipment (i.e. acetylene welding torch).
- Demonstrates a safety first thought process.
- Exhibits high motivation and a strong sense of responsibility; decision making (identify and prioritize).
- Good mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Skills:
- 2 years prior repair maintenance with heavy equipment.
- Manufacturer-sponsored training is a plus.
- Welding certification.
- Working knowledge of diagnostic equipment and procedures
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record required.
- OSHA knowledge or certification.
