Position Summary
The Level 1 Automation Technician supports daily production by performing basic equipment care, routine preventive maintenance, and first-level troubleshooting. This role ensures machines and work areas remain clean, safe, and fully operational.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of production flow and floor operations, along with the ability to assist the maintenance team with preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
Key Responsibilities

Machine Cleaning:
Perform daily and shift-based cleaning of automation equipment, sensors, conveyors, guarding, and surrounding areas to maintain uptime and prevent contamination.

Preventive Maintenance Routines:
Complete scheduled maintenance tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, visual inspections, tightening fasteners, and checking wear components.

Basic Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve simple issues including jams, misalignments, loose connections, and sensor blockages when possible.

Area Cleaning & Organization (5S):
Maintain clean and organized work areas by sweeping, wiping surfaces, removing debris, and organizing tools and materials.

Production Support:
Assist in maintaining production flow, respond quickly to downtime, and communicate issues to operators and senior technicians.

Documentation:
Record preventive maintenance completion, downtime events, and repair actions in logs or CMMS systems.

Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and safe work practices at all times.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand tools and recognize worn components
- Basic electrical awareness (sensors, wiring, low-voltage components—no live electrical work)
- Understanding of production processes and machine interaction across workflows
- Strong attention to detail to identify early signs of wear, leaks, or misalignment
- Effective communication skills to report issues clearly to team members
Qualifications
- Entry-level candidates or individuals with 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or machine operation preferred
- Technical school training or maintenance coursework is a plus but not required
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods and lift as needed
