Job Full Description
A Longview plastics manufacturer has an immediate opening for a press operator to work a 12-hour rotating night shift. The shift is 3 on/2 off, 2 on 3 off and starting pay is $18+DOE.
Record accurate production pounds, including footage, downtime, scrap, number of rolls run, and complete dockets.
Set and change print cylinders/sleeves and printing decks.
Identify ink color variations on printed products.
Make roll changes.
Maintain ink levels, viscosity and pH.
Learn how to dispense ink.
Handle and store wastewater and all inks properly.
Retain and label samples as required.
Apply number identification to the pertinent product produced.
Learn how to tone inks.
Observe rolls for flags and changes.
Learn how to make all machine adjustments and start learning job set-ups.
Check the product for treat, size, print quality/location, and other specifications as specified on job docket, no less than ten times and hour and at every roll change.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Basic math skills: Addition, subtraction, and multiplication to record accurate reports and accurate mixing of ink.
Basic reading skills- must be able to read customer specification sheets to verify and ensure the quality of products.
Basic computer skills.
Writing skills- Adequate for legible and accurate recording of production reports and other pertinent information.
Must be able to read a tape measure to the 1/16th.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED
Printing experience a plus
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENT:
Climb up into the presses carrying a 50 lbs. doctor blade chamber and load them into the press.
Be able to get on your knees and work on the lower decks
Twisting and stretching when loading print sleeves, aniloxs and doctor blades
Standing and walking on the production floor
