Job Title: Buyer II

Pay

$25.00 per hour, DOE (Depending on Experience)

Job Summary

The Buyer II is responsible for daily purchasing activities to support operational needs while ensuring optimal pricing, quality, and delivery performance. This role manages purchase orders, maintains stock levels, builds and maintains supplier relationships, and serves as an escalation point for Buyer I issues. The Buyer II also supports strategic sourcing initiatives, leads process improvements, and mentors purchasing team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process open purchase requisitions
  • Create and manage purchase orders (POs)
  • Monitor open PO reports and follow up on past-due deliveries
  • Update item records and revise POs as needed
  • Handle CSR requests, including:
    • Tracking and shipment proof of delivery
    • Updated shipping dates
    • PO expediting
  • Manage PO acknowledgements and confirmations
  • Investigate recurring supplier or material issues, including cost discrepancies, missed delivery dates, and unit of measure issues
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Engage suppliers to improve on-time delivery and communication
  • Assist with strategic sourcing process implementation
  • Lead project management efforts with cross-functional teams to support cost reduction and innovation
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the parts purchasing team
  • Support hiring, staffing models, and workflow management in partnership with the Purchasing Manager
  • Establish goals, monitor performance, and drive continuous process improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of related purchasing or supply chain experience

Basic Skill Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Work Environment & Conditions

  • Indoor and outdoor plant environment (non-climate-controlled)
  • Moderate noise level
  • Eye protection required; hearing protection and dust masks may be required in designated areas

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for handling objects and tools
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally
