Now Hiring: Accountant I

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant I. This role assists with accounting duties related to grants, general accounting, and student account–related responsibilities. The Accountant I will provide backup support for the Accountant position and assist all areas of the Business Office as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual grant accounting, including preparing reports and reconciliations for specific grants
  • Manage and ensure accuracy of Employee Tuition Grants and student account charge processes
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for common cost allocations and correcting entries as needed
  • Interpret and apply statutes, rules, and regulations as required
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Perform all grant-related duties, including drawdowns
  • Work closely with grant writers and submit grants timely
  • Assist with duties related to registration, audits, and other time-sensitive events
  • Assist with third-party billing
  • Assist with generating and verifying 1098-Ts
  • Complete budget transfers and modifications
  • Train as backup for the Accountant position
  • Serve as an active and collaborative member of the Business Office team
  • Maintain regular attendance for a full-time work schedule; additional hours may be required during peak periods
  • Attend conferences and seminars to stay current in the field
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and accounting systems
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records while managing multiple projects
  • Ability to work effectively under high levels of stress
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Self-starter with the ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner
