Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Sunnyvale, TX
Pay: $18–$20/hr BOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30am–4:30pm
Job Summary
A manufacturing facility in Sunnyvale, TX is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support daily operations and keep production equipment running safely and efficiently. This role performs a variety of mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance tasks on machinery, building systems, and material-handling equipment. Ideal candidates have hands-on maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently or with a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on production equipment.
- Identify, source, and install replacement parts as needed.
- Dismantle equipment using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools to access defective components.
- Inspect parts for wear or dimensional changes using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
- Adjust and calibrate machine components and control instruments.
- Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Install structural or functional mechanical components.
- Follow all LOTOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out) procedures to ensure safety.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) according to OEM guidelines and schedules.
- Track and report PM compliance on major production equipment.
- Support overhead crane operation, troubleshooting, and vendor-scheduled PM.
- Assist with mobile equipment repairs and internal PM requirements.
- Operate metalworking equipment such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders to fabricate or repair parts.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment.
- Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, wiring, sensors, and control systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices.
- Experience with metalworking and fabrication (lathe, drill press, grinder, etc.).
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic industrial electronics.
- Understanding of LOTOTO procedures and industrial safety practices.
- Ability to read manuals, schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize repair needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or walk for most of the shift.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs with assistance.
- Regular bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tight or elevated spaces.
- Use of hands and fingers for small components and precision work.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, loud, or dusty environments.
- Visual acuity to read instruments, gauges, and measuring tools.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of experience in a mechanical/maintenance role.
- Demonstrated experience with both mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Ability to work occasional alternate or rotating shifts as needed.
