Job Full Description
We’re seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Programmer to support fabrication operations by preparing 3D models and drawings into efficient, machine-ready programs. You’ll be working primarily with SolidWorks, Trumpf CNC equipment (laser and press brake), and PEM hardware insertion machines, playing a key role in driving precision and throughput across the production floor.
• Convert CAD files and engineering drawings into flat patterns and laser programs
• Create and optimize nests for Trumpf laser cutting to reduce material waste
• Program press brake operations with accurate bend allowances and tooling setups
• Produce setup sheets and bend diagrams for shop floor operators
• Program PEM hardware insertion with correct tooling and fastener placement
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth workflow and job accuracy
• Maintain version control for programs, job travelers, and documentation
• Assist with estimating job costs and ordering required materials/hardware
• 2+ years of experience in sheet metal programming
• SolidWorks proficiency (sheet metal design and flattening required)
• Hands-on experience with laser cutters and press brakes
• Familiarity with PEM hardware and fastener placement
• Strong understanding of materials, tolerances, bend allowances, and blueprints
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred Skills:
• Experience using Trumpf TruTops or Boost software
• Comfortable in a high-mix, low-volume production environment
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
• Familiar with ERP or MRP systems for job planning and documentation
