Water Utility Maintenance Worker

We are seeking a dependable Water Utility Maintenance Worker to help operate and maintain a municipal water distribution and wastewater collection system. This hands-on position involves repairing utility lines, installing meters and valves, and supporting preventive maintenance throughout the system.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Repair water and sewer leaks.
• Make new water and sewer taps.
• Install and replace water meters, valves, service lines, and cleanouts.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water and sewer lines.
• Excavate trenches and prepare work areas for repairs.
• Operate backhoes, dump trucks, and other utility equipment as assigned.
• Locate underground utility lines.
• Restore and clean worksites after repairs.
• Read and maintain meters, gauges, and related equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and instructions from the foreman.
• Assist with additional field maintenance duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Previous utility, construction, plumbing, or equipment operation experience preferred.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in confined spaces.
• Able to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Must be punctual, dependable, and safety conscious.
