Job Full Description
In this role, you will be responsible for repairing leaks and maintaining various components of the water system. You will have the opportunity to gain experience operating machinery such as backhoes and dump trucks while advancing your career in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour, based on experience
Job Highlights:
- Leak Repair: Address water and sewer leaks by excavating holes and trenches, operating backhoes and other equipment, and installing necessary shoring.
- Maintenance: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water and sewer lines, including unclogging lines with hydro-jets and routers, exercising or replacing valves, repairing lift station pumps, and testing for low water pressure.
- Utility Line Locates: Identify and locate utility lines accurately.
- Leak Site Management: Restore and dress up leak sites post-repair.
- New Installations: Run new main feeders and service lines.
- Meter and Equipment Management: Read and maintain various flow meters, water interconnects, and gauges at lift stations, booster stations, and other utility locations.
- Repairs: Fix water lines in city buildings.
- Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the grounds at field operations, lift stations, booster stations, plants, and other facilities.
- Water Testing: Conduct chlorine tests on new lines.
- Debris Clearance: Remove brush, trees, and other debris from city streets and set up barricades at low water crossings during heavy rains.
What We’re Looking For:
- Confined Space Entry: Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Machinery Operation: Experience operating a backhoe, dump truck, pump truck, hydro-jet, and various hand and power tools.
- Leak Detection: Ability to use electronic leak correlators and acoustic leak detection systems.
- Communication: Ability to give and follow clear instructions with good communication skills.
- Reliability: Punctual, reliable, and dependable.
- Education: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
