Job Full Description
A reputable municipality in the Central Texas area is seeking a Treatment Operator I to join its water operations team. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in water treatment, plant operations, or environmental services who take pride in maintaining high safety and water quality standards for the community.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity offering stability, variety, and opportunities for professional growth.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $23.00–$34.00 per hour (DOE)
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate and maintain water treatment facilities in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
· Conduct routine inspections, monitor pumps, motors, filters, and treatment processes, and adjust operations as needed.
· Perform chemical testing and record results for parameters such as chlorine, turbidity, pH, and hardness.
· Use SCADA systems to monitor water distribution and facility performance.
· Maintain accurate daily and monthly logs, reports, and usage records.
· Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on treatment equipment.
· Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory testing instruments.
· Assist in preparing reports required by state and federal regulatory agencies.
· Maintain clean and safe work areas and perform general maintenance of equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum of two (2) years of experience in water treatment operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Certification:
· Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification or
· Class C Surface Water Operator Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
· Valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of water treatment processes, mechanical systems, and regulatory standards.
· Ability to perform mathematical calculations and laboratory analysis.
· Proficiency with SCADA systems and basic computer software.
· Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
· Ability to perform light welding and minor mechanical or electrical repairs.
