Commercial Concrete General Superintendent
Location: Gatesville, TX

Express Employment Professionals is assisting a local construction company in the search for an experienced Commercial Concrete General Superintendent. This is a senior-level leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple commercial concrete projects, managing field operations, coordinating crews, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
Please note: Extensive commercial concrete construction experience and previous superintendent-level experience are required. This is not an entry-level opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Oversee field operations across multiple commercial concrete projects.
- Supervise and direct foremen, field crews, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources to meet project schedules.
- Review plans, specifications, project schedules, and contract requirements.
- Plan and coordinate upcoming work, including materials, equipment, and labor needs.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and project timelines.
- Coordinate and oversee:
- Slabs on grade
- Foundations and footings
- Grade beams
- Concrete paving
- Curbs and gutters
- Sidewalks
- Retaining walls
- Piers
- Reinforcing steel and rebar
- Formwork
- Excavation and base preparation
- Manage concrete pours, including scheduling crews, suppliers, and equipment.
- Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, elevations, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve field issues before they impact production or schedules.
- Communicate regularly with project management regarding manpower, schedules, and job progress.
- Coordinate with general contractors, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct jobsite visits and attend project meetings as needed.
- Monitor labor hours, productivity, and equipment utilization.
- Enforce safety standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
- Assist with hiring, training, and development of field personnel.
- Support project closeout activities and punch-list completion.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in commercial concrete construction required.
- Previous experience as a General Superintendent, Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or similar field leadership role required.
- Strong knowledge of commercial concrete operations from site preparation through placement and finishing.
- Experience with structural concrete, paving, foundations, rebar, formwork, and site concrete work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction schedules.
- Strong understanding of elevations, layout, grades, and concrete tolerances.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and crews simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate manpower, equipment, and project resources.
- Working knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between active jobsites.
