Commercial Concrete Estimator
Location: Gatesville, TX
Job Type: Full-Time

Express Employment Professionals is assisting a local construction company in the search for an experienced Commercial Concrete Estimator. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in commercial concrete construction who can manage the estimating process from initial takeoff through bid submission.
Please note: Previous commercial concrete estimating experience and PlanSwift experience are required. This is not an entry-level estimating role.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using PlanSwift.
- Prepare estimates for commercial concrete projects, including:
- Slabs on grade
- Foundations and footings
- Grade beams
- Concrete paving
- Sidewalks
- Curbs and gutters
- Retaining walls
- Piers and drilled foundations
- Reinforcing steel/rebar
- Formwork
- Excavation and base preparation
- Calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, concrete plants, rebar suppliers, pump companies, and other vendors.
- Prepare bid proposals, scope sheets, inclusions, exclusions, and supporting documentation.
- Review plans and specifications for scope gaps, conflicts, and cost impacts.
- Communicate with general contractors regarding bid opportunities, clarifications, and revisions.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and jobsite visits as needed.
- Track bids, proposals, and project awards.
- Assist with project handoff to operations and field teams.
- Prepare and price change orders.
- Prepare and submit monthly pay applications, including billing quantities, stored materials, approved change orders, and required documentation.
- Track project billing to ensure completed work is accurately invoiced.
- Maintain current knowledge of market pricing, labor costs, materials, and subcontractor rates.
Qualifications
- Commercial concrete estimating experience required.
- PlanSwift experience required.
- Strong understanding of commercial concrete construction methods, sequencing, and project execution.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience performing accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and bid deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from takeoff through bid submission.
