Job Full Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Fire Suppression & Kitchen Equipment Technician to join our safety services team. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire suppression systems and commercial kitchen equipment. The ideal candidate will hold a Fixed System License (FEL-A) and have a strong understanding of NFPA codes and fire safety compliance standards.

  • Valid Fixed System License (FEL-A) (Required)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspections & Testing:

    • Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarms, fire suppression systems (including wet chemical), and kitchen exhaust systems.

    • Ensure compliance with NFPA 96, NFPA 17A, and applicable local codes and fire marshal regulations.

  • Troubleshooting & Repairs:

    • Diagnose and repair gas and electrical cooking appliances, fire system wiring, and associated control systems.

    • Service and maintain fire alarm control panels, detectors, relays, and notification devices.

  • Documentation & Compliance:

    • Maintain detailed and accurate service records, inspection reports, and compliance logs.

    • Coordinate inspections with local fire departments and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

  • Customer Education:

    • Train and educate kitchen staff on fire system safety, reset procedures, and routine maintenance protocols.

  • Emergency Response:

    • Respond promptly to emergency service calls related to system malfunctions or activations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Fixed System License (FEL-A) (Required)

  • Proven experience with:

    • Pre-engineered fixed fire extinguishing systems

    • Wet chemical suppression systems for commercial kitchens

    • Fire alarm systems and components

    • Troubleshooting commercial kitchen appliances

  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, particularly NFPA 96 and NFPA 17A

  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and service manuals

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
