Pay: Hourly pay based on experience
The Fabrication & Installation Technician helps build, prepare, and install signage projects in the shop and on-site. The role involves hands-on work with tools and materials, plus overnight travel about 1-2 weeks per month after being hired on by the company, along with regular extended day trips.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate, prep, and assemble sign panels, vinyl graphics, dimensional lettering, and other custom signage elements in the shop.
- Assist with tasks like cutting, sanding, painting, drilling, fastening, soldering, and basic electrical prep for illuminated signs (low voltage wiring).
- Pack, load, and unload materials and tools for transport to job sites.
- Install signage on-site, including mounting signs to walls, posts, ceilings, or structures using fasteners, adhesives, and hardware.
- Operate power tools such as drills, impact drivers, saws, grinders, and lift equipment safely.
- Read and follow shop drawings, measurements, and installation instructions to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with final site clean-up and quality checks to ensure a professional finish.
- Work as a part of a crew - follow directions from the install lead and communicate issues clearly.
- Troubleshoot installation challenges and help find practical work-arounds on-site.
- Stay busy and take initiative when tasks are complete - help keep projects on schedule.
Requirements:
- Some experience with construction, carpentry, shop work, or handyman tasks is preferred - but willingness to learn is very important.
- Comfortable and safe using hand tools and power tools (drills, saws, levels, tape measures, ladders)
- Ability to read a tape measure and basic shop drawings.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Must be eligible to work on college campuses.
- Must be willing to travel overnight (1-2 weeks per month) and make regular day trips.
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic - dependable, self-motivated, and problem solving mindset.
