Location: Waco, TX
The Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for operating sewing machines in accordance with the production schedule, ensuring products are assembled accurately, safely, and efficiently to meet internal and external customer expectations. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
Operators in this role work with various materials and are primarily responsible for sewing one side of the mattress—the bottom—to the side panels, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and product integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Read and interpret daily production schedules to identify required raw materials

Organize and prepare materials for sewing, including loading and setting up machines

Operate sewing machines efficiently and safely according to established procedures

Work with different fabric types and materials specific to mattress production

Precisely sew the bottom panel of the mattress to the side panel, maintaining consistent quality and alignment

Ensure quality standards are met by closely following product specifications

Place completed materials in designated areas

Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company policies

Report safety hazards, equipment concerns, or work-related injuries promptly

Support a positive and productive team environment

Perform other duties as assigned by management
Education, Experience, and Job Requirements:
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or sewing-related role

Must be able to read, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions in English

Basic computer skills and ability to read schedules, safety rules, and technical documents

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

Familiarity with hand trucks, moving equipment, and hand tools
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Must be able to sit for approximately 90% of the shift; walk/stand for about 10%

Ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 20 lbs
-
Frequent reaching, handling materials, and use of manual dexterity

Requires normal visual, hearing, and speaking abilities

Occasional exposure to workplace hazards such as vibrations, temperature changes, or moving equipment

Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required – including safety glasses, gloves, and close-toed shoes

Work environment includes moderate noise and occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and odors
