Experienced Industrial Painter (Commercial Vessels)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Painter with extensive experience in painting and coating commercial vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surface preparation, application of specialized marine coatings, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. This role is critical to ensuring the durability, performance, and aesthetic quality of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface preparation: Perform sandblasting, grinding, and cleaning to remove rust, scale, and old coatings.
- Application of coatings: Apply primers, epoxies, urethanes, and other marine-grade coatings using spray, brush, or roller methods.
- Quality assurance: Inspect surfaces and finishes to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Safety compliance: Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Equipment maintenance: Operate and maintain painting equipment such as spray guns, compressors, and scaffolding.
- Team collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to meet project deadlines.
- Documentation: Record work performed, materials used, and inspection results for project tracking.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of industrial painting experience, preferably on commercial vessels.
- Technical knowledge: Familiarity with marine coatings, corrosion control, and surface preparation standards (SSPC, NACE).
- Certifications: OSHA safety training; NACE or SSPC certifications preferred.
- Physical requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to read technical drawings, and effective communication skills.
