Furniture Installation & Moving Crew Member (Temporary Project)

Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking dependable and hardworking associates to assist with a college dorm furniture installation project. This position involves unloading trucks, moving and unpacking dorm-style furniture, assembling furniture, and placing it in assigned rooms. Associates will also assist with site cleanup at the completion of the project.

This is a physically demanding position requiring team members who are reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to working the entire shift from start to finish each day.

Responsibilities

  • Unload furniture and materials from delivery trucks.
  • Move dorm-style furniture into college residence halls and assigned rooms.
  • Unpack furniture and assemble beds, desks, dressers, and other furnishings as needed.
  • Place furniture according to the project layout and supervisor instructions.
  • Lift, carry, push, and maneuver furniture weighing 50–60 pounds, with team assistance when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the project.
  • Assist with final site cleanup, including disposing of cardboard, plastic, and other packaging materials in designated dumpsters.
  • Follow all safety procedures and directions from the site supervisor.
  • Check in with the site supervisor upon arrival and check out before leaving each day to ensure accurate timekeeping.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50–60 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor for 8–10 hours.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Willingness to work the full duration of the project each day.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Previous moving, warehouse, furniture assembly, or general labor experience is preferred but not required.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Associates must report to work wearing:

  • Hard Hat
  • Safety Vest
  • Safety Glasses/Eye Protection
  • Long Pants
  • Work Boots

COVID-19 face covering requirements will follow all applicable state, local, or client regulations.

Schedule

  • Start Time: 8:00 AM (Associates must arrive and check in with the site supervisor by 8:00 AM.)
  • Shift Length: 8–10 hours per day
  • Must remain on-site until released by the site supervisor each day.
