Skilled General Laborer (Night Shift)
Express Employment Professionals is seeking 3 Skilled General Laborers for an intensive, fast-paced commercial demolition and installation project in downtown Salt Lake City, UT.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for reliable, safety-conscious individuals who are comfortable using heavy power tools and thrive in a physically demanding, fast-moving environment.
Compensation & Schedule
- Shift: Night Shift (Anticipated Midnight – 8:00 AM)
- Start Date: Tentatively October 16 (Subject to minor shifts)
- Project Duration: Short-term / Project-based commercial support
- Important Note: Comprehensive UTA Safety Training is strictly required prior to the project start date.
Job Responsibilities
- Demolition Support: Use power tools to cut existing ADA steel railings free from concrete, grind down remaining metal stubs flush to ground level, and cut removed rails into transportable sections.
- Installation Support: Move, lift, and position heavy sections of industrial pipe and railing.
- Concrete & Anchoring: Drill holes into concrete structures, insert wedge anchors, and securely hammer them into place.
- Team Collaboration: Hold and align heavy materials securely on-site to assist the welding crew.
- Debris Removal: Haul out removed materials and keep worksites clear of hazards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Tool Competency: Proven experience and comfort safely operating hand and power tools (including tape measures, portable bandsaws, 7" and 4-1/2" grinders, and hammer drills).
- Safety First Mindset: Strong understanding of standard safety procedures when operating high-powered grinding and cutting equipment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physically demanding, repetitive lifting of heavy pipes and railing throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Pace: Ability to keep moving and match the speed of a hardworking crew working on a tight schedule.
Worksite & Logistics
- Location: The project covers 16 platforms across 7 downtown UTA TRAX stations (including City Center, Courthouse, Gallivan Plaza, Temple Square, Planetarium, Old Greekton, and Salt Lake Central).
- Transportation: You will not drive directly to individual platforms. All crew members meet at a single, centralized downtown meeting point each night and are shuttled directly to that night's active worksite.
- Required PPE: Candidates must bring their own Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, and Steel-Toed Boots. If you have your own high-visibility safety vest, please bring it; otherwise, one will be provided.
