Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Department: Construction / Operations
Reports To: Project Manager or Director of Construction
Location: New River Valley areas
Position Overview:
The Construction Superintendent oversees all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to design specifications. This role manages field personnel, coordinates subcontractors, enforces safety and quality standards, and serves as the primary point of contact between the job site and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily on-site operations, including scheduling, work assignments, and subcontractor coordination.
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Lead and enforce site safety programs and maintain a clean, organized job site.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and architects to resolve issues or discrepancies.
- Monitor project progress and prepare daily/weekly reports on work performed, materials used, and potential delays.
- Conduct site inspections to verify quality control and adherence to plans.
- Manage and track materials, deliveries, and equipment usage on-site.
- Hold daily or weekly meetings with crews and subcontractors to discuss schedules, safety, and work plans.
- Assist in budget control by identifying cost-saving opportunities and preventing rework.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, inspectors, and vendors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and blueprints.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and field personnel effectively.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training preferred.
