Crew Supervisor – WWTF Maintenance

Wastewater Treatment Facility
Starting Salary: $56,617
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Includes participation in on-call rotation and occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Position Summary

The Crew Supervisor – WWTF Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and coordinating maintenance activities at the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). This position supervises maintenance staff and ensures that all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems are maintained in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner to support continuous plant operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct daily activities of maintenance personnel.
  • Plan, assign, and inspect preventive and corrective maintenance work.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, blowers, valves, conveyors, electrical systems, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with operations staff to minimize downtime and ensure plant reliability.
  • Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in budget planning and equipment replacement forecasting.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of experience in a water or wastewater environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Class II Virginia Wastewater Operator license (or ability to obtain within the first year of employment).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems related to wastewater treatment.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
