Job Title: Second Shift Machine Operator
Location: Wytheville, Virginia
Shift: Second Shift (Typically 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, with overtime as needed)
Position Summary
The Second Shift Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing of automotive components. This position supports production goals by following standardized work procedures, maintaining equipment performance, and upholding quality and safety standards throughout the shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor assigned production machines according to established procedures
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production schedules
- Inspect parts and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventive maintenance
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and escalate complex problems to maintenance or supervision
- Maintain accurate production and quality records
- Ensure work area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
- Meet or exceed daily production targets and efficiency standards
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and incoming/outgoing shifts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous machine operation or manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to read measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
