Position Summary

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for the precision machining of high-performance materials used in advanced applications. This position requires a skilled technician who can operate and program CNC equipment, interpret complex blueprints, and ensure that all parts meet stringent quality and dimensional standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or grinders to produce precision components according to engineering specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to determine machining operations, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
  • Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, and materials for optimal machining performance.
  • Perform in-process inspection and quality checks using micrometers, calipers, CMMs, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Adjust machine offsets and parameters to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve part performance.
  • Maintain detailed production records, ensuring traceability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and quality management procedures (ISO/AS9100, etc.).
  • Conduct routine maintenance on machines and assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience operating and programming CNC machines (Fanuc, Siemens, or Mazak controls).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, precision measurement, and machining best practices.
  • Experience with metals and advanced materials such as copper alloys, ceramics, or composites.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and 3D models.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Preferred:

  • Experience in aerospace, semiconductor, or energy sector manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Basic knowledge of CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.).
