Maintenance Technician

Norfolk, VA
Pay: $18.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Assignment Length: Approximately 4 Weeks

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to support a local property management organization serving residential communities throughout the Hampton Roads area. This position offers a variety of hands-on maintenance work, the opportunity to work independently, and the potential for a longer-term opportunity based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Complete general maintenance work orders
• Perform basic plumbing and electrical troubleshooting
• Repair and maintain appliances, ceiling fans, washers, and dryers
• Prepare residential units for new occupants
• Install smoke detectors and complete minor repairs
• Document completed work using a mobile work order system
• Communicate with outside vendors when specialized repairs are needed
• Drive a company vehicle between assigned properties
• Maintain a professional and respectful attitude while working in occupied residences

Qualifications

• Previous general maintenance or property maintenance experience preferred
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple work orders
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver's license required
• Comfortable using a smartphone or mobile applications for work orders
• Excellent customer service and communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing ladders
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable driving between multiple work locations throughout the day
