Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Assembly Mechanic to join our team, responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills with both hand tools and electrical systems, along with experience in fabrication and installation of various electrical components and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical and electrical components according to technical drawings and specifications
- Install and maintain electrical systems, including AC and DC circuits
- Perform cable pulling, routing, and termination in accordance with electrical schematics
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems
- Fabricate and install electrical infrastructure components including conduit, raceways, and cable management systems
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Required Qualifications
Hand Tool Proficiency
- Extensive experience with electric and cordless power tools
- Proficiency with shop equipment and specialized assembly tools
- Ability to select and use appropriate tools for specific tasks
- Experience maintaining and caring for tool inventory
Electrical Knowledge and Experience
- AC/DC Systems: Demonstrated experience working with both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) electrical systems
- Cable Installation: Proven ability to pull and properly label cables through raceways, overhead installations, and confined spaces
- Electrical Termination: Experience terminating cables and conductors according to electrical drawings and schematics
- Measurement and Testing: Proficient use of voltmeters and other electrical testing equipment
- Electrical Components: Understanding of electrical equipment including:
- Motor controllers and variable frequency drives
- Transformers and power distribution equipment
- Emergency stop (E-stop) systems and safety circuits
- Troubleshooting: Experience with systematic testing and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems
Fabrication and Installation Skills
- Experience fabricating and installing packing tubes and cable transits
- Ability to install multiple cable transits and collars
- Proficiency in conduit bending, cutting, and installation
- Experience with wire raceway systems and cable management solutions
- Knowledge of proper installation techniques for various electrical infrastructure components
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree or certification in electrical, mechanical, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in assembly, maintenance, or electrical work
- Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards (NEC, OSHA)
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Physical ability to work in various positions and lift up to 50 pounds
Working Conditions
