Project Manager - Residential Construction

Vancouver | Direct Hire Position

A client of ours in Vancouver is seeking a hands-on Project Manager with extensive field construction experience. This unique hybrid role requires someone who can seamlessly transition between leadership responsibilities and active construction work, spending 40% of time managing operations and 60% working directly in the field alongside the crew.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay: $55,000 - $65,000/year
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM until project completion
Position requires travel to various job sites


Position Overview

We need someone who can lead from the front - a working manager who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty while ensuring projects run smoothly. You'll spend significant time actively performing construction work, training team members through hands-on demonstration, and solving problems in real-time on job sites.

Key Responsibilities

Management Duties (40% of time):

  • Schedule and coordinate multiple residential construction projects
  • Supervise field crews and subcontractors
  • Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of company vehicles and equipment
  • Manage project timelines, materials, and quality control

Hands-On Construction Work (60% of time):

  • Carpentry: Framing, finish work, trim installation, drywall repair
  • Insulation: Installation of various insulation types in attics, walls, and crawl spaces
  • HVAC: Basic ductwork installation, sealing, and system maintenance
  • Painting: Interior/exterior prep work, priming, and finish painting
  • Energy Efficiency: Weatherization, air sealing, window and door installation
  • Directly train new employees through hands-on instruction and mentorship
  • Operate and maintain construction tools and equipment
  • Perform quality inspections and corrections on all work

Required Qualifications

Essential Construction Experience:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of residential construction experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple trades
  • Hands-on expertise required in at least 3 of the following areas:
    • Carpentry and framing
    • Insulation installation (blown-in, batt, spray foam)
    • Basic HVAC installation and ductwork
    • Interior/exterior painting and surface preparation
    • Energy efficiency improvements and weatherization

Leadership Experience:

  • 1-2 years of recent supervisory or management experience in construction or related field
  • Proven ability to train and mentor construction workers
  • Experience managing job schedules and coordinating with multiple crews

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions
  • Strong problem-solving skills for equipment and construction challenges
  • Excellent communication skills for crew management and client interaction
  • Willingness to work until projects are completed each day
