Forklift Operator – Cold Storage
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Schedule: Train on Day Shift → Transition to Swing Shift
Overtime: Significant seasonal overtime available
Availability: Must have flexible availability
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to support production and cold-storage operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate product movement, maintaining inventory integrity, supporting production flow, and operating equipment safely in a temperature-variable environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply production areas with product and materials as needed.
- Load and unload enclosed and flatbed trailers.
- Operate a stand-up and sit-down forklift safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate inventory using scanners and computer systems.
- Complete cycle counts and document results with accuracy.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and minor maintenance; report issues promptly.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including freezers, coolers, pallets, and trailers.
- Follow all GMP Food Safety Procedures and company policies.
- Sort, track, and protect pallet condition to prevent damage.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to temperatures above 100°F during summer months.
- Exposure to extremely cold and wet environments, indoors and outdoors.
- Work in loud environments and around equipment with moving parts, airborne particles, or electrical components.
- Frequent bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, and use of hands/fingers.
- Sitting, talking, and hearing for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs.
- Work in environments that may contain allergens.
Schedule & Availability
- Training: Day Shift
- Regular Assignment: Swing Shift
- Overtime: Heavy overtime expected during peak season
- Availability: Must be flexible and able to adjust to production needs
Qualifications
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of forklift experience (stand-up and sit-down).
- Ability to operate a forklift for a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to read and understand product labels.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic troubleshooting skills and ability to perform minor repairs safely.
Qualities Needed
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and consistent.
- Able to work in extreme temperature conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
