Job Full Description
Material Handler / Keg Processor
Pay: $19.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (4-day work week)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
About the Role
We're looking for hard-working, physically fit Material Handlers to join our team. This role involves unloading stainless steel beer kegs from 40ft shipping containers/semi-trailers, operating a keg polishing machine, safely depressurizing kegs, and assisting with general facility setup. This is a fast-paced, physically demanding position suited for someone who is reliable, adaptable, and comfortable with repetitive heavy lifting throughout the day.
What You'll Do
- Unload stainless steel beer kegs (30 lbs each) from 40ft containers/semi-trailers — unloading semis all day
- Lift, stack, and down-stack kegs, including stacking a third tier of kegs onto pallets
- Safely remove pressurizing valves from kegs (treated like a loaded gun — pressure must be fully released before handling)
- Feed depressurized kegs upside down into the sanitizer, similar to a car wash process
- Operate a keg polishing machine using a double-trigger system (requires both hands); stand in one position while feeding and monitoring slow-rotating kegs, one at a time
- Meet a daily team output goal of 400 kegs processed (lifted, stacked, or down-stacked) per operator
- Assist with furniture setup in two offices and general work areas between containers, including team-lifting items up to 50 lbs
- Work side-by-side with an experienced teammate until fully comfortable with equipment and procedures
- Follow all safety and PPE requirements while operating equipment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, and stack 30 lb kegs throughout an 8+ hour shift
- Ability to lift and handle kegs at or above shoulder height, including stacking a third tier onto pallets
- Upper body strength sufficient for sustained, repetitive lifting
- Ability to participate in team lifts of furniture/items up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods while operating the polishing machine
- Comfortable working in an environment with chemical odors
Required Experience
- At least 1/3 of relevant background in material handling, warehouse work, or heavy lifting
- Prior experience with physically demanding, repetitive work preferred
PPE & Dress Code Requirements
- Steel-toed or composite-toed boots required
- Dust mask or properly fitted respirator mask required (for dust exposure)
- Safety goggles required
- No loose clothing permitted around machinery
- Clothing must be tight-fitting and able to be tucked in
- No tank tops or shorts
- Long hair must be pulled back and secured while operating equipment
- Only one ear may have a "music" headphone in at a time (for safety awareness)
Break Schedule
- 5-minute break every hour, plus an unpaid lunch (11:00–11:30 AM)
Ideal Candidate
- Hard worker who adapts well to changing tasks and priorities
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to work well as part of a team, especially for team lifts and working side-by-side while learning
- Comfortable with a physically demanding, repetitive daily routine
