Accounts Receivable Representative

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Accounts Receivable Representative to join their finance team. This role is responsible for supporting revenue cycle operations by maintaining accurate client accounts and working closely with insurance providers to ensure timely and accurate payment processing. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a solid understanding of healthcare billing practices, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue and Account Management
- Analyze funding sources and service level data to support revenue maximization
- Review and process account adjustments while ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate account status and payment requirements with clinical and support teams
Billing and Collections
- Review insurance denials, gather necessary information, and resubmit claims to appropriate payers in a timely manner
- Evaluate private pay statements for accuracy and follow up on delinquent accounts
- Manage returned mail, update account information, and coordinate collection activity as needed
- Process write-offs and prepare accounts for collection referral according to established procedures
Insurance and Claims Processing
- Prepare and submit Medicare, medical, and insurance claim forms
- Obtain and process retroactive certifications and correct impacted services
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits coverage, authorization requirements, and billing details
- Maintain accurate and up to date coverage information within the system
Customer Service and Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance companies regarding benefit coverage and billing inquiries
- Collaborate with clinical, utilization review, and support teams to resolve billing issues and denials
- Communicate payment requirements clearly to ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of employer sponsored insurance plans and coverage details
- Update client accounts based on new or corrected information from payers or internal teams
- Stay informed on payer requirements, system updates, and regulatory changes that impact billing operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of two years of experience in accounts receivable or billing, preferably within a healthcare environment
- Knowledge of insurance verification, claims processing, and revenue cycle operations
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
