We’re a privately held property management company seeking an Accounting & Property Management Associate to support the financial and operational aspects of a diverse portfolio of commercial and multi-family properties. This is a great opportunity to build your accounting expertise in a real estate environment, with potential for future growth into higher-level roles.
What You’ll Be Doing
Accounting & Financial Support (Primary Focus)
- Review and accurately code property invoices; ensure timely processing and payment.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly tenant billing (rent, utilities, parking, etc.).
- Post batches and reconcile financial transactions in our Yardi system.
- Track receivables and assist in collections and communication with tenants regarding overdue accounts.
- Support payroll reporting for maintenance staff and resolve timecard discrepancies.
- Assist with budget preparation, expense reporting, and year-end reconciliations.
- Maintain organized digital and paper records for audits and financial reviews.
Property Management Support (Secondary Focus)
- Help set up new tenants (utilities, move-in coordination, rent payment process).
- Maintain accurate lease and tenant records in Yardi.
- Coordinate with vendors for routine property maintenance or special projects.
- Assist with compliance reporting (e.g., utility usage, insurance updates, etc.).
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate who is:
- Financially savvy – Comfortable with numbers, billing, reconciliations, and spreadsheets.
- Organized and detail-oriented – Able to manage multiple tasks with accuracy.
- Tech-savvy – Proficient in Excel, Word, and database systems (Yardi experience is a big plus).
- A clear communicator – Both in writing and in person, especially with internal teams and tenants.
- Experienced in accounting, bookkeeping, property management, or administrative finance roles (2–4 years preferred).
- Interested in growing into a broader financial or operational role in property management.
