Dye House Operator

Monday-Thursday: 2pm-12:30am, $17.50/hour 

(Training hours are Monday- Thursday, 10am-8:30pm) 

The Dye House Operator is responsible for the efficient and accurate operation of dye machinery to process textiles. This role involves following precise formulas and procedures to ensure fabrics meet specified color, quality, and processing standards. A successful candidate will be detail-oriented, have strong mechanical aptitude, and be a cooperative team player.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation:

    • Operate and control dyeing machinery, such as vats, cabinets, or dyeing ranges, to wash, bleach, dye, or otherwise finish textiles.

    • Set and adjust machine parameters, including temperature, pressure, dye concentration, and time, to achieve desired results.

    • Monitor control panels, display screens, and equipment to ensure proper operation.

  • Dye and Chemical Preparation:

    • Accurately weigh and mix dyes, chemicals, and other additives according to established formulas or recipes.

    • Add dyes, water, detergents, or other chemicals to tanks to dilute or strengthen solutions as needed.

  • Quality Control:

    • Observe the dyeing process and conduct regular quality checks.

    • Visually inspect dyed materials for color consistency, evenness, and any defects.

    • Perform tests, such as colorfastness or pH tests, to ensure the dyeing meets quality standards.

    • Examine and feel products to identify defects and variations from standards.

  • Material Handling:

    • Load and unload fabrics, yarns, or other textile goods into and out of machines, using hoists or other lifting equipment as necessary.

    • Mount rolls of cloth on machines and thread them through specified sections of the equipment.
