As a Dispatcher, you will coordinate and manage the daily scheduling of freight, deliveries, and field units. Your role is vital to ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient movement of shipments while maintaining clear communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams. This position requires excellent multitasking, data entry, and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of transportation systems and port operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enter and manage data accurately using transportation management systems (TMS) and internal software
- Dispatch field units, personnel, or vehicles to job sites or shipping/receiving locations using phone, radio, and computer systems
- Monitor real-time progress of deliveries and vehicle routes; ensure on-time performance and route optimization
- Prioritize incoming calls and logistics requests based on urgency and operational needs
- Communicate essential updates to field teams about traffic, routes, port information, and potential obstacles
- Maintain detailed and organized logs, delivery records, and reports
- Collaborate with other departments to align transportation with customer service and supply chain operations
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Dispatcher, Logistics Coordinator, or in a transportation operations role
- Strong data entry skills and fast, accurate typing abilities
- Knowledge of ports, steamship lines, and freight logistics is strongly preferred
- Excellent multitasking, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage urgent situations effectively
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Critical thinking, sound judgment, and a team-oriented mindset
- Previous experience in concrete dispatch, construction dispatch, or related industries is a plus
