    This training boot camp provides the practical tools, tips, and techniques necessary for your front line management to thrive in the day-to-day battle of front line leadership. This high energy course is delivered over two days in four different segments. The classroom training is followed by 2 hours of onsite coaching and consulting to help participants apply the tools they received in boot camp to their daily work.

    • Mechanics of the job: decision making, fire-fighting, planning, and accountability

    Financial Literacy and Impact — You can affect the company’s bottom line!

    • Basics about financial goals, labor costs, budgets, profit & loss statements
    • Understand the financial impact of the 7 types of waste
    • Simple changes that can help or hurt the bottom line

    Day 2

    Communication Essentials — Be well read. Be well spoken. Be well heard.

    • Write proper e-mails
    • Conduct productive meetings
    • Communicate cascading goals and actions throughout the organization

    Thriving With Your Team — A day in the life of a supervisor.

    • Plan the day’s production
    • Execute before and after action reviews
    • Develop meaningful metrics

    Onsite Application and Consulting

    John Keuning, Director of Manufacturing Excellence, will visit each participant back at their work location for a 2 hour session to help them apply what they learned in the class room to their unique position and company. These sessions can be tailored to each individual's need and could focus on topics ranging from coaching on communication issues to consulting on the setup of a manufacturing line.

    Training takes place at the Express Employment Professionals Training center in Grand Rapids. Class sizes are limited to 12-20 participants so that interaction and learning are maximized. Training can also be customized and offered onsite at client companies for large enough groups.

    This training is for front line supervisors, new leaders, or high potential employees being trained for management roles. The content is designed with a focus on front line leaders in the manufacturing or industrial settings but the takeaways are relevant to any industry. Every class has a unique group of participants from various backgrounds, including: Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, Human Resources, Retail, and Operations.

    Director of Manufacturing Excellence - John Keuning

    John Keuning joined Express Employment Professionals  in 2017 as Director of Manufacturing Excellence. John has a passion to put his thirty years of manufacturing and leadership experience to work for companies by providing both classroom training and on site consulting in all areas of manufacturing.  He has extensive experience in Lean Manufacturing theory and implementation as well as helping new and advancing leaders understand the day to day work of being a leader.

    John has served multiple industries as a Supervisor, Lean Leader, Product Launch Leader, Production Manager, Plant Manager, and Director of Manufacturing. Through each experience, his main focus has been to help fellow leaders, direct reports, and team members to be their best while executing the daily duties of manufacturing.

    His goal is to help develop better leaders, engaged workers, lower cost of goods, and higher profits for companies by arming teams with tools necessary to be great agents of change. Supervisor Boot Camp, Advancing Excellence Series, and the Express Lean Series of classes are all part of this quest for excellence. John’s favorite place to be is on the plant floor working side by side with teams and leaders to find solutions to manufacturing questions.
