    This training boot camp provides the practical tools, tips, and techniques necessary for your front line management to thrive in the day-to-day battle of front line leadership. This high energy course is delivered over two days in four different segments.

  • Day 1

    Supervisor Basics — The purpose, role, and influence of the supervisor.

    • Six attributes of a leader and how to apply them
    • Mechanics of the job: decision making, fire-fighting, planning, and accountability
    • Transition from co-worker to leader

    Financial Literacy and Impact — You can affect the company’s bottom line!

    • Basics about financial goals, labor costs, budgets, profit & loss statements
    • Understand the financial impact of the 7 types of waste
    • Simple changes that can help or hurt the bottom line

    Day 2

    Communication Essentials — Be well read. Be well spoken. Be well heard.

    • Write proper e-mails
    • Conduct productive meetings
    • Communicate cascading goals and actions throughout the organization

    Thriving With Your Team — A day in the life of a supervisor.

    • Plan the day’s production
    • Execute before and after action reviews
    • Develop meaningful metrics

    Training takes place at the Express Employment Professionals Training center in Grand Rapids. Class sizes are limited to 12-20 participants so that interaction and learning are maximized. Training can also be customized and offered onsite at client companies for large enough groups.

    This training is conducted by our Director of Manufacturing Training, John Keuning.

    As Director of Manufacturing Training, John Keuning has a passion to put his 30 years of manufacturing and leadership experience to work for companies by providing both classroom training, virtual training, and on-site consulting. His goal is to help develop better leaders, engage workers, lower cost of goods, and increase profits for companies by arming teams with the tools necessary to be great agents of change. John's favorite place to be is on the plant floor working side-by-side with teams and leaders to find solutions to manufacturing questions.

    He has extensive experience in Lean manufacturing theory and implementation as well as helping new and advancing leaders understand the day-to-day work of being a leader. John has served multiple industries as a supervisor, Lean leader, product launch leader, production manager, plant manager, and director of manufacturing.
